Rural Health
- RuralGP is a resource for remote & rural GPs, GP trainees and nurses. It aims to provide up-to-date information about key events, discussions and initiatives happening on the UK rural health agenda.
- Institute of Rural Health works to inform, develop and promote the health and wellbeing of rural people and their communities, through research, education and policy analysis. They also host The Rural Health Forum and a Database of Good Practice in Rural Health and Wellbeing. They are involved in Rural Well Being is a health and wellbeing information service for the people of rural Wales.
- The Centre for Rural Healtha Scottish academic unit. On their site there are publications and reports on rural health.
- The BMA has published Healthcare in a Rural Setting which highlights issues relating to Rural Health Care. In their introduction they say "Rural healthcare in the UK is not given the same attention as in countries such as Australia, USA and Canada." When DDA Online was searching for rural health links we found lots of them for the aforementioned countries.
- The Commission for Rural Communities provides well-informed, independent advice to government and ensure that policies reflect the real needs of people living and working in rural England, with a particular focus on tackling disadvantage. It is a statutory body set up by government. It response to the PWP was very supportive of rural GPs and doctor dispensing.
