What we do for Dispensing Doctors

The DDA:

  1. Is the only Organisation that specifically represents the interests of dispensing doctors and their patients.
  2. Gives advice to Members on the full spectrum of dispensing issues and is frequently contacted by outside agencies for information about dispensing.
  3. Produces Dispensing Guidance and a guide to Standard Operating Procedures (Both free of charge to Member practices).
  4. Sends email alerts to Members on urgent matters regarding dispensing.  
  5. Provides education and training for dispensary staff at discounted rates to Members.  
  6. Offers help and advice to Members when dealing with pharmacy applications.
  7. Responds to relevant government consultations to ensure that the interests of dispensing practice and patients are taken into account.  
  8. Holds regular meetings with the GPC, PSNC, the Department of Health and other agencies to promote your interests regarding service issues, including remuneration and reimbursement.
  9. Has developed ties with both the pharmaceutical industry and wholesalers to ensure that concerns and interests of dispensing doctors are heard.
  10. Has an up to date website www.dispensingdoctor.org with a Members Only section that provides information about dispensing issues, including access to information on VAT, Controlled Drugs and the Dispensary Services Quality Scheme.
  11. Delivers commercial benefits for its Members with access to discounted business credit card transactions, Insurance affiliations, production of DDA bags and labels and discounts on Company formations.
  12. Offers Members a reduced rate at the Annual Conference, where Members can meet as well as make contact with participating pharmaceutical companies.
