GPs and OTCs
Mark Simmonds, Conservative Shadow Health Minister what recent representations he has received on proposals to allow general practitioners to sell over-the-counter medicine.

Community hospitals
Conservative Nigel Evans (Ribble Valley) called for a debate on the importance of community hospitals, praising the role they played in rural areas.
Responding, Leader of the House Harriet Harman stated that it was for people locally, through the NHS, to decide where services were put.

Review of prescription charges
Responding to questions from Tony Baldry baldryt@parliament.uk (Banbury, Conservative Party) and Norman Lamb lambn@parliament.uk , Shadow health secretary (North Norfolk, Liberal Democrats) regarding Professor Ian Gilmore's review of prescription charges, Mr. Mike O'Brien responding on behalf of the government said: Professor Gilmore has now submitted his report on the prescription charges review to the Department of Health. His recommendations are now being considered by the Department. We will publish the review's report and our response to the recommendations in the new year.
Welsh £1M Rural Health Innovation Fund
The Minister for Health and Social Services waqs asked by Peter Black Peter.Black@wales.gov.uk (South Wales West, Lib-Dem): What progress has the Minister made on the establishment of a Rural Innovation Fund as set out in the Rural Health Planning consultation.
Answer: In my statement on 9 December 2009, which set out my spending priorities, I confirmed that £1 million has been allocated for the Rural Health Innovation Fund. One of the first tasks of the Rural Health Implementation Group, which will be set up in the New Year, to determine criteria and guidance for the Fund.
