The DDA is pleased to announce that in its two forms (but always the same organisation) it has been in existence since 1984 when the founder doctor, David Roberts, invited concerned doctors to a meeting to discuss the threat to dispensing services with the ‘limited list' which, with hindsight, appears to be the least of our worries during our existence.
I was present at the founding meeting in Coventry and have been active in the DDA for most of its existence and indeed was acting Chairman during our reformation as a limited company which has provided the Association with structure which over the years has aided our effectiveness.
Dispensing doctors owe part of their continuing survival to the work of the Dispensing Doctors' Association and especially its founder doctor, David Roberts, without whose initial concern and energy it is unlikely that the Dispensing Doctors Association would have formed.
The Association continues to ‘promote the interests of dispensing doctors and the excellence of doctor dispensing for the benefit of patients' but only manages to be so effective because of the commitment not only of its members but of our patients who continue to value the service we provide.
