The Scottish Government's consultation on Control of Entry has now closed to responses, these will be published in the near future. There were 140 responses.
Our patient survey has had an excellent response which are currently being analysed.
The issues and profile of rural medical practice and dispensing by doctors havebeen highlighted to MSPs, MPs and in the local and national press alongside the GP and pharmacy press.
Scottish dispensing doctors and their patients must remain active. Despite the the Scottish Parliament recess, the MSPs (and MPs) are still working. Between now and the end of August, MSPs will be using this time to try to keep abreast of as many constituency issues as possible.
The issue of dispensing doctors' services is important to many MSPs' constituents. It is very important that doctors and patients communicate their message to MSPs. They should stress the local issues and the importance of the dispensing doctor to themselves and their community.
To enable MSPs to see for themselves the services that are offered and to hear first-hand how vital dispensing practices are for the provision of healthcare services to their constituents, invite your MSP to visit your surgery. If you plan to do this:
Contact the DDA at office@dispensingdoctor.org for advice and support
We will shortly be sending a "support pack" to all Scottish dispensing
practices.
Invite the local press
Have the practice patient group in attendance
Have three or four major points you want to make
Keep it local and tell them what impact the loss of dispensing would have on medical services.
