Zoladex

Is a PA item

Dr Allan Tennant reports

28th of July 2010

Regular readers of our FAQ section will be aware of a recent article on personally administered items

In the article the member's question specifically mentioned Implanon and Zoladex as being dispensed at a loss and some readers may have inferred that Zoladex was not personally administered. This is not the case. Implanon is not a PA but Zoladex is, which is confirmed in our own published PA list

Dr Joanna Lloyd, Senior Specialist Pharmacist at NHSBSA Prescription Services said,

"Zoladex is an injection which is covered by the SFE 17.4 and therefore prescriptions submitted under personal administration arrangements are reimbursable. Zoladex cannot be included on the FP34 appendix claim form."

We are awaiting FOI responses on trying to obtain lists of PA items so that our PA list can be updated.
