Dr Hal Maxwell is a locum GP in rural south west Scotland and formerly, the senior partner in a small rural dispensing practice in the same area.

He was a member of Ayrshire & Arran LMC for 25 years and served on both the UK & Scottish LMC conference agenda committees. He has a keen interest in medical politics particularly with respect to the issues of inequality and rural practice. From 2013 to 2019 he was the Remote and Rural Lead on the RCGP’s Membership Liaison Group & served on the RCGP Rural Forum Steering Group until 2021  He is currently the DDA representative on the Scottish Government Dispensing working group.

Hal has a passionate interest in immediate/emergency care and is involved in both the provision and teaching of emergency care skills through BASICS Scotland.
