Dr Richard Melton – DDA Treasurer
Dr Richard Melton qualified in 1980 and was a founding member of the Dispensing Doctors Association when it started in 1985. He was acting chairman of Dispensing Doctors Association 1999 to 2000 a turbulent time when the Dispensing Doctors Association became a more democratic body and also a limited company.
Dr Melton has been a board member of the Dispensing Doctors Association since 2000 and during my time with the DDA he has participated in the Discount Abatement Review in the late 1990’s and more recently he has represented the Dispensing Doctors’ Association at the Flu Pandemic Planning Meetings.
Dispensing practice remains very dependent upon the profit that it makes from dispensing to subsidise rural practice and we continue to fight for the survival of this service (successfully to date) for the sake of not only our own practices but also that of our patients.
The Dispensing Doctors’ Association promotes the interests of dispensing doctors and the excellence of doctor dispensing for the benefit of patients.
On a personal basis I was born and brought up in Worcestershire. Qualified in Birmingham and went to work in Warwickshire (I haven’t moved very far). I am married to my first wife and have six children, three of whom are at university as we speak.
