A 19-year-old woman is collecting her combined oral contraceptive and says that she occasionally runs two packs back to back in order to skip a period if it is likely to cause inconvenience, for example, if she is going on holiday and will be in and out of the water, or has a run of exams at university. Is this OK, she wonders, or is it harmful in the long run?
