CQC names new GP chief inspector

Non-dispensing GP from Taunton takes top regulatory post

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has appointed Dr Rosie Benneyworth as the new chief inspector of primary medical services and integrated care. Rosie will take over from Professor Steve Field in early March.

Rosie is currently the director of strategic clinical services transformation for Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and vice chair of the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence.

Rosie has been a GP for 15 years, previously at a non-dispensing practice in Taunton. Former roles include: managing director of the South West Academic Health Science Network (AHSN); deputy chair of the National AHSN network; and leadership of the national network of Patient Safety Collaboratives.

Rosie is also a trustee on the board of the Nuffield Trust.
