The DDA has signed up to join the new Rural Health & Care Alliance (RHCA), which has been formed to focus attention on rural health.
An alliance between the Rural Services Network (RSN) and the new National Centre for Rural Health and Care based in Lincolnshire, the RHCA will formally open for business from April 2019 with the following aims:
- Seek equity of health and care for rural communities
- Create a strong, collective voice for those involved in rural health and care
- Raise awareness of the challenges faced in rural health and care.
RSN director David Inman said the new organisation would work to achieve special considerations of the rural areas that make up 80 per cent of the area of the country. He said: “We will do all we can to ensure that the special problems and concerns in rural areas, where some 20 per cent of the population reside, are highlighted and are sought to be tackled.”
