The DDA is urging practices to get involved in Europe’s adverse drug reaction (ADR) awareness week, which started yesterday, and runs until Friday 24 November.

This year’s campaign encourages patients to report adverse drug reactions associated with medicines bought from a pharmacy.

When counselling patients, dispensers may wish to advise patients that ADRs can occur with over the counter medicines, particularly, when they are sold without reference to the patient’s full medication history.

Patients can be invited to record their OTC ADRsĀ  via the MHRA’s Yellow Card website.
