The chronic CNS condition multiple sclerosis (MS) affects over 100,000 people in the UK, but the wide range of symptoms and unpredictable nature of the disease’s progression means that the way in which it is managed can differ hugely between patients.

This training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with background information on the management of MS.

By the end of the article, dispensers will know:

  • know some of the measures people with MS can take to try and stay well
  • appreciate the role of medication in this area
  • understand how relapses are treated
  • be aware of the management options for the major symptoms of MS.

This module should be read in conjunction with the previous module on MS diagnosis and symptoms, which can also be found in the DDA’s online library of Dispenser Education Modules.

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap.
