The dispensing fee scale for England and Wales will fall from October 1, 2019, by an average of 20.9p per item (10.17 per cent) compared to April 2019.

Compared to the feescale for October 1, 2018, dispensing fees for October 2019 have fallen by 19.5 per cent or between 42.6-48.2p per item.

The basis for dispensing fee calculations is the dispensing envelope for 2019-20, which is valued at £180.96 million. This is calculated by taking the 2018-19 envelope (£180.98 million) and adjusting this figure for any over/underspend in 2018-19 and uplifting the cost element and profit element.

During 2018-19 there was an increase in the number of fees (an overspend) of 463,184. The methodology can be viewed online.

The new fee scale, effective from October 1, 2019 is published below, with comparative information for April, 2019.
