Responses by dispensing practices to the current consultation on reimbursement will be used to inform the supporting impact assessment, pharmacy minister Jo Churchill has confirmed in a parliamentary exchange.
She told Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin that the “impact assessment published alongside the consultation document will be updated with information provided by respondents to the consultation”.
The DDA continues to urge all practices to write to their MPs regarding proposals in England to review reimbursement, as decisions made for England could inform reimbursement policy in Scotland and Wales. The deadline for responses to the reimbursement consultation is Tuesday 17 September, just over one week away. The DDA has produced a template letter for practices to send to their MP. MP contact details are available online.
DDA chief executive officer Matthew Isom urges GPs to ensure that dispensing issues are fully considered in the proposal. The concern is that, despite ministerial reassurances, there have been no meetings with NHS England, which holds the GP contract covering dispensing practice, nor has NHS England produced any impact assessment detailing dispensing practice issues.
