From 1 April, when shielding guidance is paused, employers should undertake a comprehensive, individual, workplace risk assessment for staff members classed as clinically extremely vulnerable. This should reflect the current working context (ie improved testing, vaccination and relationship with transmission), according to new NHS England guidance.
CEV staff workers should continue to work from home where possible.
All staff should continue to follow national guidance on infection prevention and control and on the use of personal protective equipment.
Discussions with staff who are concerned about returning to work should be sensitive and understanding, and should focus on both individual and workplace risk.
