Healthcare Inspectorate Wales has resumed all routine NHS onsite inspections, following the move to alert level 0 across Wales on 28 January 2022, and the general decreasing trend in rates of COVID-19.

Providers will receive around 24 hours’ notice for ‘green’, and elective, scheduled pathway inspections, to support safety.

HIW clarifies that unannounced inspections will still take place where it considers there to be an extremely high risk to patient safety.

The next review of this position will be March 2022.
