Scotland loses four more dispensing practices

Scotland’s network of dispensing practices has fallen by four over the year to January 2017, and now stands at 96 practices.

Between them these practices employ 315 dispensing GPs, and have around 234,000 patients. This equates to 3.28 GPs per practice, and 745 patients per GP.

The network of non dispensing practices now stands at 867, employing 4,638 GPs, and caring for a patient population of 5.44m patients. This equates to 5.3 GPs per practice and one GP to every 1181 patients.

Between 2016-17 the number of Scottish practices has remained constant at 963 practices.
