The independent contractor model of general practice in Scotland is coming under scrutiny in a new parliamentary inquiry into the future of primary care in Scotland.

Among the questions being asked by Scotland’s Health and Sport Committee is how well the model works for people and their families.

The two-part inquiry comprises a survey open until Tuesday 30 April  and public panels, followed by written submissions and evidence sessions in the Scottish parliament from September.

The public sessions aim to gather views on access to primary care, the role of multidisciplinary teams and technology.
