Abbott FreeStyle Libre snub to dispensing GPs

No discount scheme available to offset loss-making dispensing

The DDA is disappointed to learn that Abbott Laboratories cannot offer discounts to dispensing GPs on FreeStyle Libre devices.

Abbott is aware that after clawback, dispensing GPs make a significant financial loss on dispensing this item. However, its policy remains not to offer any dispensing GP discount scheme to offset the NHS deduction, despite DDA efforts over the past 18 months.

Practices are reminded that Nice-recommended alternatives are available, and at a discount to dispensing GPs.
