Add the rural voice to GP improvement programme

The Royal College of GPs is seeking GPs to provide hands-on experience of resource and workforce pressures, as part of the NHS England General Practice Improvement Programme (GPIP).

From July, the RCGP will partner with GPs and Primary Care Networks to deliver support strategies in areas such as:

improve how patients access the practice
improve assessment and streaming to the appropriate response
make full use of a multi-professional team
improve patient experience
build in-house capability to sustain improvement

The project is expected to take four to six months. Participating practices will benefit from on-site support from experienced and skilled facilitators as well as group-based learning sessions to facilitate peer to peer learning and sharing of experiences across practices.

Workforce challenges are often most acute in practices operating in areas of high deprivation, and in rural areas, the RCGP acknowledges.
