Alert: Nitrofurantoin 100 mg Prolonged-Release capsules

Two batches of CNX Therapeutics Nitrofurantoin 100 mg Prolonged-Release capsules are being recalled due to the presence of additional tablets.

The affected batches are:  

A small percentage of blister pockets within the affected batches have been found to contain an additional yellow tablet of nitrofurantoin.

Healthcare professionals are asked to quarantine all remaining stock and return it to your supplier using your supplier’s approved process.

Patients are asked to return affected batches to the supplier dispensary team where the extra tablet can be removed. Patients can be reassured that the remaining capsule is safe to take and will deliver the correct dose.  Patients that have taken the additional tablet with the capsule have ingested a higher dose of nitrofurantoin than was intended.
