DDA adds SOP

Document covers dispensing items to young carers

The DDA has added a new SOP to support the dispensing of items to young carers.

The purpose of the SOP is to ensure that young carers receive the dispensed items intended for the person to whom they provide care, and sufficient information to enable them to help the patent use the items effectively.

The procedure covers the identification of young carers, advising and assisting young carers and the transfer of all dispensed prescriptions to young carers.
