DDA dispenser training looks at learning disabilities and autism

Around 2.5 per cent of people in England have a learning disability, with autism alone affecting 1-1.7 per cent of the population. Yet these patients are likely to die earlier than those without learning disabilities: 19 years earlier for men versus the general population and 23 years younger for females versus the general population.

This training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with advice on supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning.  By the end of the training, dispensers will:

  • Be aware of the requirements of new statutory training governing the care and treatment of people with learning disabilities and autism
  • Recognise the need for changes in communicating with such patients
  • Be aware of communication tips and tools that can be used straight away

Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. There is also a certificate of completion for CPD purposes.

Access the training in the online library of Dispenser Education Modules
