DDA Chairman Dr Richard West has published a 2024 general election briefing.
In the briefing, Dr West speaks about the challenges facing dispensing GPs as we approach this watershed moment in political history. The briefing acknowledges the challenges that dispensing GPs face as a result of inadequate rural proofing, coupled with increased costs of service, medicines shortages, and imposed changes to reimbursement that take no account of the dispensing practice model of medicines supply.
In his call to engage dispensing GPs in the political campaigns ahead, Dr West said: "It’s time that our politicians realised that the model of rural general practice works well for the NHS and patients – but it needs to work better for hard-working dispensing GPs as well."
