DDA publishes dispenser training on low back pain

Low back pain (LBP) is among the most common conditions you’ll see in your patients, with over 80 per cent of people suffering at some point in their lives. The good news is that, while this pain can be debilitating, it’s a rarely a sign of something more serious. The bad news is that it’s a problem that can recur - around a third of people will still have some pain a year later

This module aims to arm practice dispensary staff with background knowledge of low back pain (LBP) to help you improve your care of this common condition.

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. There is also a certificate of completion for your CPD records.

Aims

By the end of this article, you will:

  • To know what low back pain (LBP) is and the symptoms it can cause
  • Recognise the adverse effect LBP can have on a person’s everyday life
  • Understand how to diagnose LBP and when to refer
  • Be aware of how to manage LBP with medication and self-care measures

DDA members can access the training free of charge in the online library of dispenser education modules
