DDA publishes eczema and contact dermatitis dispenser training

Our skin is the heaviest organ in the body and makes up 10-15 per cent of our total bodyweight. With 11 miles of blood vessels and 19 million skin cells per square inch there’s a lot that can go wrong with this barrier between us and the outside world — and the effect is usually obvious to others.

One of the most common skin conditions, particularly among young children, is eczema.

This training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with background information on eczema and its management, and the necessary related dispensary skills.

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. 

By the end of this training you will:

• Understand the difference between atopic and contact eczema, their symptoms and triggers
• Recognise when to refer patients
• Be aware of the treatment options for eczema management
• Be able to counsel patients on using treatments for maximum benefit
• Be alert to dispensing issues for eczema treatments.

There is also a certificate of completion for your CPD records.
