DDA updates CFS/ME dispenser training

Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), is estimated to affect between 250,000–750,000 people in the UK. It’s a complex condition that affects multiple body systems with variable, unpredictable and fluctuating symptoms.

However, the figures could be higher as there is no clear definition of the condition and it is underdiagnosed.

This training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with background information on chronic fatigue syndrome so you can help your patients better manage their condition.

By the end of the training, dispensers will:

Know what ME/CFS is and appreciate current thinking on its causes.
Be aware of ME/CFS symptoms and their impact on patients’ lives.
Know how ME/CFS is diagnosed.
Understand non-pharmacological approaches to ME/CFS management and their challenges for patients.
Be cognisant of medication that can help with symptom management.

Within the training you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. There is also a certificate of completion to add to your CPD records.
