DDA updates routine vaccinations dispenser training

The World Health Organization views immunisation as having the single greatest contribution of any health intervention, saving an estimated 154 million lives in the past 50 years.

This updated training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with background information on the vaccines routinely offered through the NHS.

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap.

Dispensers scoring at least eight right can download a certificate of completion for their CPD records, for their line manager to sign.

The aims of this training are:

Appreciate the body’s immune system and how it help protects us from infection
Understand how vaccines fit into immunity, both for the individual and for society
Be aware of the causes of vaccine failure
Know the NHS routine vaccination schedule and its objectives
Be able to answer common patient questions and provide vaccination advice.
