Health minister Ashley Dalton (West Lancashire) has reiterated that rural areas will be a priority as the new Neighbourhood Health Service is rolled out as part of the new 10-year plan for the NHS in England.
In a parliamentary written answer, Dalton said that the aim of the new service was to ensure that rural people will be cared for closer to their home. “In… rural and coastal communities… we know access to healthcare services is often particularly poor.”
North Northumberland Labour MP David Smith asked what assessment has been made of the potential impact of the Neighbourhood Health Service on healthcare in rural constituencies.
