Women wishing to obtain the NHS Hormone Replacement Therapy Prescription Prepayment Certificate (HRT PPC) are being advised to apply online.

The Department of Health is promoting the online link as the HRT PPC is only available in a few pharmacies to purchase in person.

The DHSC’s Equality Impact assessment notes: “Dispensing doctors are currently unable to use the EPS to order medicines from their practice dispensary due to a gap in the EPS specification.

“However, patients served by dispensing doctors will be able to take advantage of reduced HRT prescription costs through the purchase of the HRT PPC and utilise this against their HRT items dispensed by their GP.”

The DDA issued advice for members on March 22nd.

The DHSA has also advised that, from May 25th, women who are deaf or hard of hearing can use the textphone (or minicom) to contact the NHSBSA using the text relay service by dialling 18001 then the relevant phone number. The NHSBSA also offers a telephone translation service and can provide documents in large print or Braille on request.
