The DDA has learned that hub and spoke dispensing will not now be implemented from 1 January 2025.
In a letter to the DDA, which responded to the Hub and Spoke consultation, DHSC Deputy Director Pharmacy Alette Addison said that the necessary amendments to the Human Medicines Regulations (2012) and the Medicines Act (1968) had been delayed due to briefing new ministers following the election.
At the current time, no further timescales for implementation have been released.
The introduction of hub and spoke dispensing was highlighted as one of the challenges facing healthcare distributors in the presentation by the Healthcare Distribution Association at the 2024 DDA conference.
