MHRA makes safety information recommendations

Organisations such as the DDA provide useful support

MHRA should work more closely with external organisations to distribute safety communications.

The consultation on how MHRA communicate with healthcare professionals to improve medicines and medical devices’ safety concludes that organisations such as the DDA provide useful support when creating and distributing safety communications.

The consultation reflects the workload and time pressures n general practice and makes several recommendations, including that the MHRA optimise subscription options to give greater control over the type and frequency of communications they receive. Subscription preferences management should be optimised and allow subscription by speciality.

The consultation recommends a greater range of subscription frequency options is provided, to balance the needs of those requiring immediate updates with those wanting less frequent but more relevant communications.  The options offered should be consistent across all communications.
