Dispensing practices in Scotland have lost 1 per cent of dispensing share (by value) between 2023-24.
In 2024, the sector accounted for 22 per cent of all fees paid for items dispensed in Scotland, down from 23 per cent in 2023. In 2024, the value of dispensing fees paid to dispensing GPs totalled £2.57 million
The payments cost analysis shows that in total £117.01m was paid in fees to Scottish dispensers in 2024, up 2.4 per cent over the year.
In 2024 cardiovascular system items accounted for the most items dispensed - 143.68m. However, central nervous system drugs account for the highest Gross Ingredient Cost: £254.21m.
