That is the conclusion of the new BMA lobby document, Patients First – why general practice is broken - how we can fix it.
In the call to action, the BMA says the new Government, DHSC and NHSE must focus on creating a digitally-led, home-first model of care which prioritises ill-health prevention via expert GP-led community practice services.
The BMA says: “Investing money in general practice brings greater rewards in terms of health outcomes than spending much greater sums in hospital models."
The DDA has expressed disappointment that the document does not reference solutions to the challenges in GP dispensing.
