DDA member Shere Surgery in Shere, Surrey, has published useful information for patients explaining the reasons for medicines shortages.

The patient information explains changes to the supply of medicines (including Brexit and the pandemic, medicines pricing schemes and the supplier base) as well as influences on demand for medicines including factors such as the increasing complexity of patients being treated in primary care.

The letter aims to help patients understand the roots of the problem of medicines shortages.

GP partner Dr Emma Watts also thanks patients for their patience during the medicines shortages. She says: “I would really like to thank you all for working with us to try to find solutions, and accepting that we are no longer able to provide preferred brands as we have to accept what we are able to get hold of.”
