DDA publishes high-risk medicines dispensing skills training

Dispensers play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety. Commonly dispensed high-risk medicines carry a greater chance of harm if used incorrectly, so good verbal counselling at hand-out is essential for their safe and effective use.

In this Dispenser Education Module, dispensary staff can access advice and information on the safe and effective dispensing of high-risk medicines. 

By the end of the module staff will: 

• Recognise medicines considered high-risk in dispensing practice
• Apply the 3 Cs approach when counselling patients at hand-out
• Provide clear safety advice and identify red flag symptoms  

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. There is also a CPD certificate for your records.
