DDA updates asthma dispenser education module

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that is so common – around 7.2 million people in the UK are affected – that it’s easy to think of it as being a relatively minor health issue. However, the seriousness of the condition should not be underestimated. In the UK alone, four people die every day from asthma and two-thirds of these deaths are preventable.

This updated training, available free and exclusively to DDA members, is designed to provide practice dispensary staff with background information on asthma so you can help your patients better manage their condition.

By the end of this training, dispensers will:

  • Be aware of the different types of asthma, their symptoms and who they affect.
  • Understand the risk factors for asthma and impact on patients.
  • Be aware of the different asthma treatments and inhalers available – and how these should be used.
  • Be able to offer advice on self-care measures.
  • Know how to manage an asthma attack

Throughout this training, you will find various activities to help reinforce your learning. Ten, multiple choice questions at the end will help you identify any areas needing a quick recap. There is also a certificate of completion for your CPD records.

DDA members can access the training in the online library of dispenser education modules
