Eluned Morgan MS has moved into the top health post becoming secretary for health & social care in Wales’ new first minister’s first cabinet.
Morgan was previously health and social services minister in the Welsh Assembly.
New minister Vaughan Gething, who takes over from Mark Drakeford, has also appointed Huw Irranca Davies as secretary for climate change & rural affairs. Davies, who is the Senedd member for Ogmore in the South Wales Valleys held the post of shadow minister for food, farming and rural affairs between 2022-2015.
Ken Skates(Clwyd South) is the new secretary for North Wales and transport.
Gething was himself health, wellbeing and sport secretary between 2016-18. Announcing his cabinet, Gething said: “This Ministerial team will answer the call of the generation in waiting, to create a stronger, fairer, greener Wales.”
