NHS Wales to look at additional support for dispensing GP EPS

Work is ongoing to identify additional support for the roll out of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) in Welsh dispensing GP practices.

In an NHS Wales primary care EPS programme update, dispensing GPs are advised that an EPS solution for both dispensing and non-dispensing patients has been identified. The next step is to identify any additional investment and support required to deliver the EPS in dispensing practices.

The first electronic prescription in Wales was sent on November 7, from Lakeside Medical Centre to Wellington Road Pharmacy in Rhyl. In the first four weeks, over 150 prescriptions (almost 400 prescription items) were successfully dispensed and claimed.
