December 15th 2025
DDA Welsh Chair Dr Fiona Porter will be part of a new working group aiming to deliver a new dispensing doctor contract in Wales.
The creation of the group comes as part of a pledge in the new GMS contract for Wales for 2025/26 to review dispensing GP remuneration.
Agreed by GPC Wales, the Welsh Government and NHS Wales, the work of the new working group will formalise and expedite a review of dispensing doctor remuneration, to resolve the challenges and barriers which result in practices handing back dispensing contracts.
The work of the group, which builds on GPC Wales’s existing involvement with the Dispensing Doctors Association (DDA), will build on DDA briefing documents for Wales produced by Dr Porter.
The aim is to produce dispensing GP recommendations for implementation from April 2027.
