The Scottish budget for 2025-26 earmarks £36 million to begin the roll-out of new high-street walk-in GP clinics, Finance and Local Government Secretary Shona Robison said yesterday.
Presenting the budget to the Scottish Parliament, Robison said this would end the 8am rush.
Overall, the budget pledges a £2.4 billion investment for GPs, primary care and community services and more than £2.3 billion of support for social care. She said this should result in higher wages, improved training and action to support staff wellbeing, retention and work-life balance.
Robison told Parliament that a bigger share of the health budget will go to primary care. There will also be specific investment in rural agriculture.
