October 9th 2025
The DDA has published a letter for MPs raising concerns about the lack of staffing pay uplift in the October dispensing feescale.
The letter argues that the increase in October does not compensate dispensing GPs for the actual staffing cost increases associated with the increases in employer NI contributions and the new minimum wage.
It also argues that there are disparities compared to community pharmacy funding.
Although the dispensing practice feescale in England and Wales rose by 3.9 per cent from Oct 1, it will fall again in April 2026 by 2.85 per cent.
The letter forms part of the DDA's RAMP UP (Rural Access to Medicines and Pharmacy services Under Pressure campaign) and marks the start of a concerted political campaign to achieve sustainable dispensary funding.
