The DDA has published a template letter to lobby MPs and AMs over the effect on dispensing practices of the recently published ‘Delivery plan for recovering access for primary care.
The letter highlights the new pharmacy services and changes to the concession price reimbursement system and emphasises the inequalities created by the plan for rural patients and rural GP services. It asks for politicians’ support with the following:
- Patients need to be able to access the same important services now available from pharmacies, and to similar standards – which requires specific funding for these services.
- To maintain practice viability, dispensing GPs need to be able to access the same fairer system of ‘discount not deducted’ on their drugs purchases as pharmacies.
