Staffing levels and service capacity are among the most common concerns reported to the Welsh GP regulator, its new report shows.
In its annual report for 2024-25 Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) concludes that access to primary care remains fragile, particularly in rural areas. These findings resonate with the DDA which is urging practices to write to their local politicians to campaign for a dispensing feescale which reflects the increased costs of staffing the dispensary.
During the year, HIW received over a third more whistleblowing concerns than during 2023-24 – a total of 120.
Other common themes raised in concerns included standards of care and treatment, organisational culture and leadership and governance and accountability.
